Plein Air Artwork
Biography
Working in an alla prima method, using broken color, and expressive brushwork, Suzanne Morris looks beyond the literal interpretation of a scene to capture the spirit of her subjects. Drawn to a scene that is magically transformed by the light falling across it, she uses a limited palette to create harmonious paintings that tell a story of a particular time and place.
She is a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists,Plein Air Artists of Colorado, and Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, an artist member of Laguna Plein Air Painters’ Association, and an associate member of the California Art Club, Oil Painters of America, Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters, Outdoor Painting Society, and Women Artists of the West. She served as Show Chair for The American Impressionist Society in 2013. In addition to participating in gallery shows and events, Morris competes in plein air festivals across the country as her schedule allows. Her work was accepted into ASMA's Invitational Exhibit, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico’s national exhibitions, the Salmagundi Club’s non –member show and Women Artists of the West’s 45th National Exhibition where her painting, “Big City Bright Lights was awarded 3rd place for painting. In 2016, her work continued to be accepted into national shows including the OPS Southwest Salon in Dallas, TX, LPAPA’s “Less is More” at the new Forest & Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA, and WAOW, PAAC and MAPAPA national member shows. She was awarded "Best Cityscape at MAPAPA's Cityscape 2016 exhibition at the Peale Museum in Baltimore MD. Her work continues to be accepted into national exhibitions and prestigious plein air competitions in 2017.
