Biography
Lindsay Jane Ternes was born in 1980 in Billings, Montana and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Lindsay's passion for art was apparent from a young age. As the daughter of an architect she had access to bins of drawing supplies and the support of creative parents. She spent hours drawing and painting, and always named art as her favorite activity. At the University of Denver she coupled her major in Marketing with a major in Studio Art. While there she focused on figure painting, later rediscovering her love for landscape painting while studying at The Marchutz School of Fine Arts in Aix-en-Provence. Her time in Southern France greatly influences Lindsay's compositions.
After years away from a serious studio discipline, Lindsay committed herself to becoming the professional artist she'd always wanted to be. As an avid telemark skier, backpacker, and trail runner, she locates most of her painting locations while on the move. Lindsay typically works on location in and around her current town of Boulder, Colorado, sometimes with her husband, Bob, toddler daughter, Margaux, and dog, Leah, along for the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Although a self-taught watercolorist, she has recently enjoyed studying oil painting with a fellow Colorado artist and mentor, Stacey Peterson.
Lindsay is an award-winning painter, most recently honored with awards at the Plein Air Artists Colorado’s 18th Annual National Juried Fine Art Exhibition and Paint the Poudre Plein Air 2014. She was a first-time artist at the 2014 Boulder OpenStudios Fall Artists Tour. Lindsay's work can be viewed at The Walnut Gallery in Louisville, CO.
